ACT - Fort Leonard Wood, MO

Fort Leonard Wood, headquarters for the Total Force’s Maneuver Support Center (MANSCEN) was established in 1940 as a basic training center, which has launched the military careers of over three million men and women. In addition to being MANSCEN headquarters, Leonard Wood is also home to the 3rd Training Brigade, which trains over 16,000 soldiers annually in three phases of basic combat training.

The 3rd Chemical Brigade operates the U.S. Army Chemical School to provide safe and realistic training experience designed to create “chemical veterans.” As part of the MANSCEN transition, the 58th Transportations Battalion has been incorporated into the 3rd Chemical Brigade to teach 14 differently military occupational specialties including Motor Transport Operator Course, construction equipment operators, plumbing, technical drafting, material quality specialists, constructions surveyors, and demolition.

Fort Leonard Wood is now the proud home of the U.S. Army Military Police School which provides training to all branches of the military as well as government agencies and U.S. allies in areas of law enforcement, field tactics, human rights, Counter-Terrorism, Family Advocacy, Counter-Drug Operations, and Force Protection. 

Fort Leonard Wood is also home of Walker Museum, also known as the U.S. Army Engineer Museum, featuring exhibits, a World War II compound, as well as weaponry, demolitions, airborne, and amphibious exhibits. Over 100,000 people visit the museum each year. The popularity is expected to grow with the future addition of Chemical and Military Police exhibits.

Mobile Mass Spectro-Meter (MM1) Simulator Classroom.

Students are briefed on their simulated mission here, then they are directed to the MM1 Simulators for instruction and final testing.

Utilizing these stations allows the instructor to control and monitor the actions of the simulated chemical environment. The instructor can view each students actions and progress.

This is the drivers section of the Fox Simulator. This portion of the device is where students become familiar with all the controls of the actual Fox Reconnaissance System.

Designed so that students and instructors can view and critique the actions of the currently assigned crew in training. The monitors on the top allow the audience to clearly see the actions taken by the crew.

This is the chemical detection section of the Fox simulator. This is where the students perform chemical agent detection and report those findings.

Students operate the Simulators while the instructor has the ability to view their performance and grade them accordingly.
